01

Hi! My name is Katherine Shuler and I’m a Brand & Web Designer based in Austin, TX, USA.

02

Outside work you will often find me unplugging through exercise, such as taking long walks in the neighborhood, boxing, and weight lifting. Sometimes, I find myself dreaming of new ways to refresh my home and dip into my interior design hobby. When it's time to relax, I either binge on reality TV or try out a new pasta recipe in the kitchen. (V I E W)

03

But on a typical workday, I am usually up around 6:30 AM and start my day by making a coffee protein shake. I then go through my inbox and adjust my schedule to prioritize tasks for the day. I try to take a quick walk outside, but if I can't, I make sure to get my steps in using a walking pad under my desk. My typical workload includes working on custom client websites and brands, handling UI/UX work for the agency I freelance for, and focusing on marketing for Rainey Studio. (V I E W)

04

My day usually starts with coffee

05

Most of the time I am working on website design, updates, and audits

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

When I was a little girl, I remember my dad bringing home a massive IBM desktop computer. I was immediately fascinated and spent many days of my childhood playing games such as The Sims. I eventually grew into the MySpace era, where I learned how to customize my profile using CSS. My love for technology and my traditional art background gave me clarity on what I eventually wanted to go to school for - Graphic Design.

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

I love creating a brand's online presence. Websites offer ample space to display a visual story and showcase the brand's personality through small interactions and animations, creating a unified system.

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

I am really enjoying diving into and experimenting with Webflow and Framer as platforms to offer clients. As a designer who uses Figma every day, I find both web-based builders offer ample space for creativity and customization without feeling daunting or too complex.

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Feminine. Timeless. Modern. Editorial

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

I frequently reference workshops that focus on galleries, hover interactions, and scrolling. Adding small customized touches of code can help a brand stand out from templated designs and give it a unique voice and personality on a digital platform.

11

What makes your work standout?

I have a diverse professional background that includes leadership in in-house start-up design and running my own studio. I've lived in Texas for over 10 years, where I've been inspired by the creative environment of Austin. However, I also draw inspiration from my Carolina roots, which are more classic and timeless, influenced by the beautiful landscape of tall trees and the Atlantic. I strive to create clean and elegant branding and website designs, using sophisticated typography to convey personality and employing strong art direction to establish a cohesive and timeless brand system that feels modern and fresh.

12

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

Standout is incredibly organized, detailed, and thoughtful. I've gained a wealth of knowledge about web design and development, including responsive design best practices, strategic copywriting, SEO, optimization, and more. Rache is always available to assist, answer questions, give feedback, and support all her students. It's definitely a worthwhile investment.

13

What is your dream website project?

I would love to collaborate with an interior design studio that aligns with my aesthetic. The studio's website should have a sophisticated and classic design, displaying beautiful spaces with edge-to-edge media. In addition, I envision an accompanying e-commerce platform to sell their curated selection of furniture, decor, and other items that add warmth and personality to a home.

02

Outside work you will often find me at local coffee shops, or finding new food to try.

03

But on a typical workday, I am usually with my headphones on, I put on my comfiest clothes, and am ready to immerse myself into my work.

04

My day usually starts with morning workout, journaling

05

Most of the time I am working on pushing the envelope, one day at a time.

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

friendster. oh no.. 🙈

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

Exploring design direction. And what I like the most is building and coding it to live. I love the thrill and the problem solving part of building the site.

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

Brew another coffee. The smell of freshly brewed coffee lifts my spirit. At the end of the day/week, I reward myself with a few episodes of Kdrama.

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Earthy. Modern.

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

Every single one of the Standout workshops is valuable in making a unique standout website. I learned a lot from Rache's thought process and how to apply that, not only limited to the workshop materials but I can use the same principles to solve other problems as well.

11

What makes your work standout?

I took time to listen to my client's problem, provide the simplest solution, and elevate it to make it look unique and stand out. Every client is different, every project is a new challenge. I am always up for any creative challenge. I am led by curiosity and skill-driven results.

12

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?

Mutual Muse.
Website → As a Shopify Developer this is my proudest project. Designed by the lovely Dana from @paradise.studio.design Lots of the buildout from this site is based from my learning from Standout Squarespace and Standout Shopify. And I use lots of assets from Standout Shopify Code Toolkit that I modified so it looks like the design that Dana has.

AR15 and Under
Website →Designed by KUYA, my role in this project is the Shopify Developer. This is a non-profit project that won 2024 D&AD award for Writing in Design (Graphite Pencil)

Gaze
Website →As designer and developer, this is my proudest project. What I love about it is, the challenge of how to make Squarespace website look unique

13

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

Rache's teaching style and materials are unique, aesthetic, and very importantly: make sense. Standout program has the best of both worlds of creativity and coding. Being a designer who loves to venture and learn more in coding, I took many coding courses and most of them were too long/too slow/too boring but not with Standout. Every module sparks interest and Rache's way of teaching makes coding make sense.
Also, the community. I met lots of new friends in Standout, and collaborate on projects and develop meaningful relationships.

14

What is your dream website project?

Be part of a project that is bigger than me.

Hi! My name is Carrie Thorimbert and I’m a Squarespace & Shopify Web Designer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

02

Outside work you will often find me traveling, exploring, working out, spending time with friends and family. (VIEW)

03

But on a typical workday, I am usually focused, drinking coffee, green juice or tea, playing inspirational music, exploring ideas and learning new ways to deliver an amazing product.

04

My day usually starts with coffee and music.

05

Most of the time I am working on client projects and exploring ideas.

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

I was born in the 70's and grew up in the 80's and 90's so I feel I've had a unique front-row seat to the evolution of the internet. I grew up writing essays with my parents encyclopedias. When the internet came around, I was all in. From dial up to myspace to chat rooms!

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

I love getting creative...whether that's with colors, concepts or code. I could spend hours playing around with new coding techniques and love watching it all come together. Building is where I excel and where I like to spend time.

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

A workout! or finding food when working abroad.

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Modern. Feminine. Earthy. Playful. Vibrant. Editorial. Minimalist.

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

All of them :) I love the mega menu the most but testimonial sliders and carousels are great as well.

11

What makes your work standout?

I really focus on amalgamating my design sense with the clients' vision. I really want my client to love their website so I ensure I'm building to their unique requests. Although I have my own sense of design, I really listen to them and build around their design preference and vision as well. This creates quite an eclectic portfolio!

12

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?

Stamp and HammerWebsite →I have many. But I looooove what I did with the Stamp & Hammer website. They really challenged me in building something out of the box and there have been many times I had to amalgamate a few CSS workshops or plugins. There are some key components inside this website that I had to build from scratch. Like the floating newsletter bar and the home page rotating banner with video, images with Kenburns effects. Tons of amazing, fun challenges on this site.

13

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

I would need to credit standout for a lot of my design techniques, my successful business structure and my ability to get through touch sticky codes. I love building and this course focuses on those who want to step out of the box. I love coloring outside the lines :)

14

What is your dream website project?

I would love for someone to come to me and say 'I'll leave all the design and decision making to you!' Building a website without restriction or a cap on creativity has always been a dream.

Hi! My name is Maria Elena Monraz Preciado and I’m a Founder & Creative Director based in Guadalajara, Mexico

02

Outside work you will often find me playing with my dog Bimba (although I do that during work hours too :)) Doing sports, specially kite-surf. I love traveling and working as a digital nomad. I am *based* in Mexico so I love summer, the beach and any activity that requires being in water. I love running early in the morning, coffee (espresso) and architecture / interior design.(VIEW)

03

But on a typical workday, I am usually drinking coffee and designing the website architecture. I love development and my focus is bringing designers vision and website projects to life through smart code. As an architect turned web developer I an a natural puzzle solver, coming up with simple yet impactful coding solutions for fellow cool designers, this is why my studio is called From Cool to Coded.

04

My day usually starts with meditation, coffee and a morning run in the nearest park

05

Most of the time I am working on web development for other designers inside Squarespace and Shopify

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

I am a 90's kid so I remember the sound of dial up internet. I am a hybrid: knew both analog and digital eras. I would download coloring books and images that I could then print out and make an art project out of them... I loved it since the very beginning.

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?
Coding is where I shine. I like design and really enjoy it too... but writing lines of code and coming up with smart, efficient and simple solutions to website mockups is my passion. I love puzzles (big sudoku fan) and web development is like solving one big puzzle in many small steps.

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

Playing with my dog

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Monochrome. Playful. Bold.

10

Share your unique style, your design philosophy and/or aesthetics that appeal to you.
I consider myself a design chameleon. I love studying vintage magazines and books to gather inspo as much as I love seeing what's new on Pinterest. I try my best to combine the best of new and old while providing a safety net depending on the niche my clients are in.

11

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?
All of them! But if I have to choose: vertical lines, mega menus (or any menu workshop), testimonial slider, sticky - scrolling, focus list carrousels, anything with hover effects and animations.... Lol I could keep going, they are all amazing.

12

What makes your work standout?

I love an editorial, bold, monochromatic design but contrasted with fun, playful user integrations. I love it when users are surprised when visiting a website with *hidden* cool animations and interactions. I love to incorporate these fun little code snippets that give web designs and extra layer of fun.

13

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?

Maria Web StudioWebsite →It was the first website I made for myself when I launched my Web Design Studio and was still a student inside Standout Squarespace. Since it was a project for myself I felt really confident to explore and take risks. It represented my design style to the fullest: editorial, vertical lines, black and white and image and typography based. I built it when the classic editor was the only editor. I used the lessons learned inside Module 4: Box model, typography, display, float and layout position properties. During this project I learned that anything is possible when you learn smart coding techniques. That CSS alone goes a long long way. I also learned more about my personal style and POV.

14

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

My biggest takeaway is that if you build strong skills you can achieve anything. That you can create your dream job, and creativity is inside all of us, it just has different outlets. I will forever be grateful for Rache and of her Standout Programs, they opened a lot of doors I never thought possible for me.

15

What is your dream website project?

I love coding websites, so my dream website project is to collaborate with nice, cool designers around the world and bring their website projects from cool to coded.

Hi! My name is Kacey Musick and I’m a Developer | Your Dev Bestie based in Philadelphia, PA

02

Outside work you will often find me taking long AF walks around my city, listening to audio books OR posted up at a coffee shop spending time talking non-stop with my IRL friends. ( V I E W )

03

But on a typical workday, I am usually at my standing desk with at least 3 beverages, Chill Tracks playlist in my headphones, doing daily coding practice, keeping in constant contact with my work besties on Threads, while building out Squarespace sites for my most favorite designers. ( V I E W )

04

My day usually starts with coffee, a walk, and CEO time

05

Most of the time I am working on getting better and better at development.

The main principle of Jupiter Development Studio is simple:

Quality Squarespace development for designers who build client-first websites without design limitations.

This means serving designers with skill AND efficiency.

The result is my ‘intensive’ brand model.

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

Some of my first memories are of being on the computer with my Mom! I was about 5 when she taught me how to type in command lines to run games on the family computer (in the 90s!!!) Then, by the time I was a tween, it was AOL instant messenger all day every day - this is still why I can type at the speed of light.

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

As a developer, I love breaking the design down into parts and then translating it into a responsive space. I love figuring out how to build these designs to perfectly match the mockup designers send me. My focus is always on creating beautiful, responsive websites that are easy for people to use. I LOVE it when designers come to me with a beautiful idea that they’re not sure how to build. My brain comes alive and I can’t get enough.

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

When I am mid-code, I typically put on a movie or TV show that I’ve seen a hundred times before. (Typically, a 90s romcom.) Having something familiar on in the background gives me just enough to ignore so my brain can refocus on the code at hand.
If something really stumps me, I’ll hop on my bike and take a 10 minute spin to shake off any error messages.

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Minimalist. Playful.

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

Every single workshop is so helpful in making me a better developer. But, it’s less about specific code snippets, and more about the technique that is woven through the Standout Squarespace curriculum. Thanks to the workshops, and both version of the course, I am able to craft new pieces of code to create the looks my designers need. But, specifically, I think I use pseudo elements every single day. That and Flex Box.

11

What makes your work standout?

I am a people-first developer. I practice code every day, I revisit lessons and workshops, and keep W3 schools open in (multiple) tabs of my browser. I do this because I want to make sure that what I build is actually easy to use for my designers AND their clients. I make sure I have experience building custom features so that I can inform and empower designers to create websites that clients aren't scared to touch.

12

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?

Fernweh Studios designed by Mindful Charlene
This client project was my first as a development studio. It was an incredible experience, working closely with Charlene (fellow Standouter) to bring her stunning design to life was just such a dream. Her design required lots of Standout techniques, including text decors, pseudo elements, vertical tabs, hover effects, and about a hundred others to restructure list sections to best capture the painstaking vibes of her clients.
What I learned on that project has heavily influenced how I offer development and what I KNOW I’m capable of.

13

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

The Standout programs doesn’t just give me stuff to memorize or teach what I could have Googled. It is this in-depth experience that feels more like grad school than an online course.
I took the first version of the course a couple years ago, and it took me about 3 months of hardcore study, along with hours and hours of work to get through those lessons. I stubbornly kept at it until one day … it clicked.
Because Rache teaches HOW TO THINK about development, I’ve been able to practice and hone my own development craft by relying on techniques taught in this program.
Recently, I sat down to take the updated version of the course and I finished in a week. It’s not because the course got easier - it’s because Rache taught me how to do this (and to do it efficiently!)

14

What is your dream website project?

I want to work with design studios who are focused on people-first Squarespace websites. I want to work with designers who push the envelope, who have clear objectives, who want to grow and serve their clients on every level. I want to work with studios who welcome a developer as collaborator with big time bestie vibes!

09

MATSUE Consulting & Leadership
MATSUE Consulting & Leadership was a recent client I worked with. I'm proud of this project because I managed to set up their complicated discount system natively in Squarespace without needing third-party integration. This was achieved by setting up specific triggers, e-commerce for their workshops, and categories.

13

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

I'm blown away by the massive potential custom code brings to Squarespace websites, as illustrated in the course and workshops.

14

What is your dream website project?

Health & Wellbeing clients, beauticians, feminine brands.

What is your dream website project?

I love them all. I like the diversity each client project brings and how we can express their individual brands online and make their personality shine.

01

Hi! My name is Haley Withers and I’m a Brand & Web Designer + Developer based in North Wales, United Kingdom.

02

Outside work you will often find me surfing, traveling or out for a walk in the hills with my dog. (VIEW)

03

But on a typical workday, I am usually designing brands and websites, obsessing over my incredible clients and sipping on a black coffee from my V60.

04

My day usually starts with cuddling my dog.

05

Most of the time I am working on branding, packaging and web design.

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

Myspace, Xanga, HTML - oh my! I came of age in the golden era of the internet (or so I believe). I've been slinging code around since my very first all HTML website about frogs. Myspace was the evolution and my ultimate creative expression.

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

I love the whole process! Designing the website speaks to my soul while bringing it to life speaks to my problem solving mind.

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

A good shake out - going to the gym, doing some yoga or getting outside in any capacity, preferably a surf!

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Minimalist. Modern.

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

Sticky & Scrolling sections, Image on Hover, Mega Menu, Scrolling Marquee, literally all of them! I love trying new things on all projects.

11

What makes your work standout?

That I love to push the limits of what is possible, especially on the web. My style is finding your style, but I tend towards more minimalistic, type driven, grid layouts for that editorial feel. Personally, I am drawn towards calming, quiet and natural spaces and this is reflected in personal projects. That being said, I love to explore different design styles that push me out of my comfort zone!

12

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

That nothing is impossible! The Standout programmes have broadened what I believe is possible with code, especially on a platform like Squarespace and Shopify. We can truly bring our wildest visions to life.

13

What is your dream website project?

My dream website project would be for an architect! I'd love to create minimalist typography driven exploration of the built spaces they are creating. I'd also love to work with more product based businesses especially those in the food and beverage industries!

01

Hi! My name is Alana Jade and I’m a Website designer for kind businesses based in my home country of Australia and a little island in Thailand.

02

Outside work you will often find me creating beautiful things (macrame, music and vegan platters, mostly!); drinking loads of soy-milky tea (English Breakfast for the win!); contemplating and reflecting deeply; questioning the status quo and living ‘outside the box’; sauntering along the tropical coastlines of southern Thailand; playing old-timey jazz and swing numbers on the clarinet in my band, Latootz. ( V I E W )

03

But on a typical workday, I am usually collaborating with my brand team, dreaming up a new branding kit or one-week website design or building websites for my clients!

04

My day usually starts with yoga, meditation, an ocean swim and a big pot of tea

05

Most of the time I am working on delivering websites in just one week!

06

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

Bringing together the talented work of different creatives – branding experts, photographers, writers – into a space that does my client’s gifts and passions justice. I also get a thrill when I see little lines of code on one side of the screen make something beautiful happen on the other side!

07

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

Chocolate!

08

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Minimalist. Earthy.

09

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

Pseudo elements, blog grids, sticky sections and elements, the smart coding section techniques so my clients never have to touch a line of code and can easily keep their websites up to date!

10

What makes your work standout?

Infused throughout all my web design work, is my passion for minimalist business practices and simple, kind living. This means all my design work focuses on calm, kind, ethical design with minimal distractions, and online spaces that are gentle on the nervous system.

11

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?

Earth ConsciousWebsite →Our Earth one-week website base design made for environmental advocates and non-profits, which we launched this year.

This design was two years in the making! I spent a lot of time researching the types of key pages, sections and functionality these types of businesses would need. In the end, I created our first 'mix and match' one-week website design where the business can choose the exact functionality they need. It makes the design so much more flexible and can be used by a variety of different businesses.

I used loads of different workshops and trainings from standout, including:
• Blog grid
• Pricing tables
• Sliding letters
• Sticky section and words for values on the About page
• Sliding timeline
• Pseudo brand marks in the footer
• Sticky split section in portfolio
• Make entire list item clickable

12

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

To truly understand code – rather than just copy and paste it from anywhere and everywhere across the internet. And the smart coding techniques have helped me develop my one-week website base designs in a way that makes them easy for me to create and easy for my clients to keep up to date. This has been an invaluable growing point for my business.

13

What is your dream website project?

A for-purpose business and / or activist – someone who is focusing on making a difference in the area of climate change.

05

Most of the time I am working on creating cute websites and dreaming up other passion projects.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
— Joshua 1:9

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

It has to be playing computer games at my friend's computer room in her house, we'd play Purble Place HAHAHA i miss it :')

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

I love the entire process of seeing the vision come to life. All from ideating it, to designing it, and translating it through code. It all makes the experience so gratifying.

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

Eating for sure. Getting myself a snack and unwinding to a good anime episode before getting back to work. (for my anime lovers! here's some of my recent favs: Apothecary Diaries, A Sign of Affection, Kaiju No. 8)

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Vintage/Retro. Playful. Editorial.

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

I use all of the coding techniques, but I would say animations are super fun to see on my website projects.

11

What makes your work standout?

I am an old soul and I love all things of the past. I take inspiration from there a lot, so I would say my work is vintage-inspired and playful. I always aim in creating a beautiful website that's not just functional, but is visually-pleasing to the eye. Your website is your digital storefront and you always want to make that first impression memorable to your site visitors to get them to come back woooo!

12

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

The fact that I can say I code and design websites is baffling to me, what started out as a hobby has turned into a passion for me and I'm so grateful for the courses through this program that have empowered me to take huge steps in that direction.

13

What is your dream website project?

It is always a dream to work with a client who is open-minded, patient, and trustworthy without micro-managing. They are kind and amazing people that are on the same wavelength as you. I believe beautiful work can come out of a healthy collaboration like that.

Hi! My name is Nancy Hatt Larson and I’m the Founder, Creative Director of Hatthaus, a boutique branding and website studio based in Covington, WA, USA.

02

Outside work you will often find me traveling, wine-tasting and talking to random dogs on the street.

03

My day usually starts with coffee and pajama time as I ease into the day, checking my e-mail, planning my day.

04

Most of the time I am working on new website designs, brand suites and learning (always learning!!!) new techniques and skills.

05

What are your first memories of the Internet?

Early on, people would talk about "surfing the web" like it was this private club for the intellectually elite. But, like most things, it really is simply about getting in there and trying it out. I originally hopped online because I had recently moved to Hawaii and wanted some things I couldn't find locally, but Christmas and two little girls waiting for Santa had other ideas. Enter...the internet. Magic!

06

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

I love it all! The strategy, the design, even the hours of trouble-shooting to get the code just right.

07

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

Sitting on the patio, the sun peaking through the trees, watching the birds, squirrels and bunnies play in my yard.

08

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Feminine. Timeless.

09

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

Slideshow counters, Fluid Tabs Grid, Blog List Borders, Stylish Carousel Summary Block, Styling Accordions, and Lined Header.

10

What makes your work standout?

Timeless and elevated while maintaining a fresh and modern appeal. So, like your cool aunt who is in touch with the times but also has the experience to get results.

11

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?

NIXIE
Website →This was a fun one, inspired by trips to the local farmer's market and an obsession with flower farmers. I created an ideal client, designed a brand identity and jumped in whole-heartedly to Squarespace. So many workshops that helped, but I would highlight the organization thanks to the border workshops, the beauty thanks to the portfolio and blog workshops, and the impact thanks to the footer reveal workshop.

HADLEY
Another fun one, inspired by a close friend in the design world. Again, a lot of research in creating a brand identity and strategy. The workshops on tabs on hover, sticky sections and a side menu were amazing, but also the tips found in the community helped finesse every little detail.

12

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

This has been the most comprehensive and supportive course I have ever taken. The skills are taught in a way that I think most creatives respond too, and the support is like having a helpful mentor sitting beside you.

13

What is your dream website project?

Anything that evokes the spirit of wine country living, whether in California, France or world-wide. The people and products/services/hospitality that understand that quality of living with ease you find in these areas. Hard work, yes, but also an appreciation of the beauty all around.

Outside work you will often find me exploring wild and beautiful places along the coast and moorland in Devon and Cornwall with my husband (and business partner) and our three daughters. (VIEW)

04

My day usually starts with stepping into the garden to see what's growing

05

Most of the time I am working on brand projects or website designs.

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

When I was 12 we got the internet at home. I clearly remember dial-up and the nostalgic pips and whirring and that awful feeling of the connection being lost when someone picked up the land-line!

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

I love creating simple, beautiful designs that reflect the brand identity I've created and adding something fun and unexpected for my clients.

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

I love walking to the end of the road to see the ever evolving coastal landscape, and dip my toes in the sea. A change of scenery and reconnecting with nature can often shift my perspective and help my creative juices flow.

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Modern. Editorial. Refined.

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

Split sections, managing the header and footer areas, javascript workshops, creating timelines,

11

What makes your work standout?

Our work is strategic and personable. We ensure that we delve into the goals and aims of our clients and really think through the needs of the website users. We work with a copywriter on all projects to really ensure our clients tell their story and present their brand in the most compelling way.

Our goal is to create beautiful websites that match what the client wishes to achieve for their business.

12

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?

Georgia Lindsay Garden Designer
I used grids to create a standout planting guide which adjusts for different screen breaks. it also has some Java Script that matches her branding on her portfolio page which swaps from a list to a visual view via a toggle. I learnt to keep things simple and not to add too many features to the site.

13

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

Choose a few features and repeat these throughout the site. Too many features complicate the site and trip up the site-user. It also makes it feel complicated for the client to update and manage.

It's great to be able to look at websites and take inspiration and find a way of creating it on Squarespace websites. Many amazing things can be coded and created on Squarespace sites with a little imagination and the support of the Standout Community.

14

What is your dream website project?

Working for a perfume brand and think through how to evoke the senses through the digital experience.

Hi! My name is Chiara Jansen and I’m a Brand Strategist, WebDesigner + Developer based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

02

Outside work you will often find me navigating the chaos of mom life and trying to sneak in a moment of peace with a book (preferably in a café)

03

But on a typical workday, I am usually strategizing like a boss, sipping on my third coffee, and infusing creativity into every project for my clients. If it's a good day, there’s also some impromptu dancing between design sessions.

04

My day usually starts with a whirlwind of breakfast chaos, trying to get the kids ready for school while juggling emails on my phone. Somewhere in there, I manage to chug a lukewarm coffee and mentally prepare for the day ahead.

05

Most of the time I am working on empowering female entrepreneurs to break through their limitations with stunning brand identities and seamless websites. Basically, I’m turning visions into reality, one pixel at a time.

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

Valery Vain
The website for Valery Vain holds a special place in my heart and it was one of the first sites I build with the Esencia theme. We implemented several wholesale options; potential partners can fill out a custom form, wholesale partners can login and easily (pre)order the products and access products exclusive available for wholesale.

13

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

The amount of knowledge that's shared is insane. The program is already very detailed, but Rache's support goes even further than that. She really goes beyond and beyond and is always willing to help and support <3.

14

What is your dream website project?

My passion lies in collaborating with those who dare to dream big and make bold moves – the game-changers in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle realms.

02

This could be through a half or full-day website intensive, or by providing ad-hoc design support. I also work with a fitness design studio in the US so most days I will be working on either a home page design or an interior page build-out for them. (VIEW)

04

My day usually starts with coffee!

05

Most of the time I am working on a one day website launch.

Your business wasn’t built in a day—but your website can be.

If designing a high-converting website feels like you’re trying to paint the Sistine Chapel blindfolded, you’re in the right place. You’ve put in the hours to build and grow a thriving business, not to be bogged down by font dilemmas, SEO mambo-jumbo and tech stuff, am I right? You need a website that mirrors your expertise, fits your budget, and is ready to launch, like, yesterday.

The good news? That’s just my speciality.

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

MSN Messenger!

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

It's amazing to witness websites being brought to life. From a simple collection of text and images, they transform into a full-fledged online platform for businesses. The joy and pride that clients show when they see their new website, ready to be shared with the world and the realisation that they have transitioned from a hobby to a legitimate business is truly priceless!

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

Maribou State on repeat!

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Editorial. Monochrome. Minimalist. Modern.

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

I love everything to do with auto-list layouts! The footer reveal code snippet is also one of my favourite subtle customisations.

11

What makes your work standout?

My work is faff-free. I favour sleek and user-friendly designs, especially the editorial or Scandi style. In addition, I ensure that my working methods are straightforward and stress-free for my clients.

12

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

Code and customisations don't have to be complicated and complex. Using the code library, and a template starting point of my most commonly used code snippets it's 100% achievable to create a custom website for clients in one day.

13

What is your dream website project?

I LOVE working with photographers and interior designers. Both these industries have amazing imagery that needs to be the focus of a website, and this works really well with my design style.

As a former small product-based business owner myself, understand the struggles of my clients when it comes to setting up an authentic online presence and it allows me to provide them with a more tailored experience.

— Bea Santos, Filmmaker

06

What are your first memories of the Internet?

07

What is the best part about the process of building websites for you?

08

What is your favorite stretch or pastime in between coding?

Stretching and recaffeinating.

09

How would you describe your Standout Style in 2-3 words? Minimalist. Editorial. Modern. Brutalist.

10

Which Standout workshops do you find yourself incorporating most often on your website projects?

-Stacked List Cards
-Split Gallery
-Overflow Elements to Adjacent Sections

11

What makes your work standout?

With my background in fashion design, I incorporate a European, minimalistic sensibility in my work. I gravitate towards clean lines, grids, textures, black accents, and an overall minimalistic design aesthetic.

12

What are some of your proudest works you've worked on?

Kim Vance ND
Website →The client completed an in depth questionnaire relating to their business, industry competitors, content requirements, and desired styles. I distilled all of the information into a visual identity concept. Once approved by the client we moved into the web design process which consists of designing a high-fidelity prototype of the homepage. Once the homepage is approved the remaining pages are designed and the site is built out with minor tweaks via client feedback.
Workshops used:
-Fluid Tab Grids for Blog section on Home page
-Stacked List Cards on Services page
Throughout this project build I learnt that "less is more". I always start out wanting to include a lot of cool features, but I am reminded to ask: what is the purpose, and will it hinder the user's experience?

13

What are the biggest takeaways from the Standout programs?

Don't be afraid to try and get messy. Use the amazing community to your advantage. If you're struggling to understand a concept—practice is key. This can come in the form a concept project for your portfolio if you don't have a client. Keep going and it will get easier and you will get quicker!

14

What is your dream website project?

An e-commerce site for a brand in the beauty space that requires high-quality, elevated packaging and brand photos.
